The Focus Consulting organized Get BACk Challenge will take place on the 15th of June in Kilkee Co. Clare. Online registration is now open so click here to take up the challenge.
The Get BACk Challenge offers participants three choices of event, a 120km cycle, a 60km cycle or a 10km fun walk/run. We have carefully selected three routes that ensure you will enjoy the very best that the Clare coastline has to offer and all in the name of a good cause. Click here to view the routes
The itinerary on the day itself is as follows:
On the Day Sign In is between 12.00 – 13.00 at Diamond Rocks Cafe. Both Cycles start at 13.30 together.
On the Day Sign In is between 14.30 – 15.15 at Diamond Rocks Cafe. The Walk / Fun Run will commence at 15.30.
Post Event BBQ
The post event BBQ will be served at the Diamond Rocks Café from 17.30. There will be music provided at the venue from 7.30pm onwards. BBQ tickets can be purchased for partners / friends and family only in advance so we can book catering numbers.
What makes a three time Tour de France winner and double world champion tick? On behalf of the Get Back Challenge, we invite you to meet three time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond at the Lime Tree Theatre in Limerick on June 14th for a candid, revealing public interview with the sports icon.
Long regarded as one of the most respected champions in the sport, LeMond will be interviewed at length by respected cycling journalist Shane Stokes (Irish Times, VeloNation, RTE Radio), with a question and answer session and autograph signing to follow.
Hear what made LeMond the best rider of his generation, with the conversation to include a stroll down memory lane reminiscing Greg’s triumphs in the Tour de France, his ferocious battles with Le Blaireau (the badger) Bernard Hinault and Laurent Fignon, his Classics clashes with Ireland’s Sean Kelly plus his two stirring world championship victories.
Greg will speak openly about his own life and times, including his origins in the sport, the obstacles he encountered as a young pro in Europe and how being shot in a hunting accident almost ended his life and later nearly finished his career. This is wonderful and rare opportunity to gain an insight into the life of a professional athlete, including the transition from an amateur to a global sports star.
While also looking back at times gone by, Greg will also speak about recent developments in cycling including the revelations on doping and his clashes with Lance Armstrong and the UCI. Moving forward, the discussion will focus on
